06Jul — St Petersburg

The majority of today was spent on the bus as we left the Baltic States and entered Mother Russia on the way to St. Petersburg.

After about two-and-a-half hours of travel, we reached Narva–the river and the town–on the border with Russia. First things first, we combined a comfort break and lunch stop at a local restaurant before crossing the Russian border.

Nothing news-worthy occured during the next two-and-a half hours on the road to St. Pete. We did watch another film, The Soviet Story: a documentary examining the Soviet Union’s relationship with Nazi Germany. Such fun!

First order of business was to check in to the hotel. Then we were driven to one of St. Petersburg’s many canals for a canal boat tour of St. Petersburg from below street level. Afterwards, we returned to the hotel to unpack and then pack-it-in for the night in preparation for the next day’s adventures.
